Gabriela Rojo, Argentinean born, Spanish blood and traditions from her mothers side and Moorish blood and traditions from her father’s side…..She was destined to sing and dance.Her life in the entertainment field began at the tender age of six when she was enrolled at the local school for the performing arts and became part of a group of talented children that toured Argentina. She was involved in radio and television as well as touring local theatres acting, singing and dancing. It was during this time that she caught “the entertainment bug” and developed her life long love of dance; her native Argentinean folk dances, Flamenco and of course the Argentinean Tango.
Gabriela stayed with this troupe for ten years before moving onto becoming part of the “Los Cordobeses” a group of entertainers that included four male dancers, a guitarist, a singer and herself. "Los Cordobeses" was chosen along with thirty other artists to join a Spanish company that traveled to Peru where they opened at the Segura Theatre in Lima where they headlined for a month. When the engagement was complete they were booked for shows at The Bolivar and The Crillion Hotels’ in Lima, they were also performing in a very popular television program called Siempre en Domingo (Always on Sunday) featured on Channel 5. In their spare time they also performed at the Tablao flamenco (next to the Plaza de Acho). The famous Corridas de Toros (bullfights) was a popular Peruvian pastime. On Sundays when the bull fights were over the aficionados of the toro “retired” to the Flamenco show next door where they were entertained by Gabriela Rojo and the "Los Cordobeses".
The troupe’s next engagement was booked through a talent agency and they opened at the Crillion Hotel, Panama. She found herself again performing on television in Carmen de la Ronda, a popular mini series on Channel 3, Panama. The next couple of years she toured extensively throughout Central and South America including bookings in Columbia, Venezuela, Cost Rica and then on to the United States. Gabriela Rojo and Los Cordobleses debuted in Miami at the Fontainebleau Hotel where they were featured for six months. They appeared nightly with Gusteno Roy a famous Cuban choreographer. .Miami Beach, Florida was her home base and from there she was able to tour all over the United States including,Bally's Park Place Casino, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Chicago, Palmer House Hotel, Opera House, Latin Quarter Supper Club, Chateau Madrid, New York, Chateau Madrid, Montreal. Gabriela Rojo and the 'Los Cordobeses' provided entertainment for the Costa Line Cruises from The United States to South America, Caribbean Islands, Europe, The Mediterranean …she lead her group around the world.
Gabriela now lives and teaches in Vancouver. Her extensive background in the entertainment field gives her a unique approach to teaching her students. Her repertoire is very versatile and includes teaching Flamenco, Tango and native Argentinean folk dances and singing. She also conducts workshops on How to Overcome Stage Fright, How to Present Yourself on Stage, How to Motivate Audiences, she coaches beauty pageant contestants she also produces and choreographs various shows locally.
